Liquid Feed Recipe
Canna Veg and Flower Feed
Be Flexible
This formula is flexible. The individual ingredients allow you to change the recipe based on the unique needs of your plants. Customize it for your own operation based on visual symptoms, strain, soil test results, and tissue test results.
Micronutrients
Only apply the micronutrients if a soil test or tissue test indicates a need for more of that nutrient.
Rates
All of these rates are safe and tested.
The light rate should be thought of as a “maintenance rate”. The heavy rate is a real feed that will contribute significant nutrients if done repeatedly.
If the soil is rich, follow the light rate. If plants are hungry or soil volume is small, feed the max rate. Or anywhere in between.
Frequency
The most common feeding frequency is weekly. If plants are hungry or soil volume is small, twice per week is recommended.
Solubility
Several of these products are not truly soluble, but we'll remain in suspension if the feed tank mixed well with circulation or aggressive agitation. Mixing the feed solution is very important for homogenous application.
Dissolvable humic acid is often the least soluble and the most prone sedimentation. Consider pre-mixing 24 hrs in advance of a feed, and pre-filter it into your mix tank. Gypsum is the most prone to settling out if not mixed continuously. Everything else is very soluble.
If fertigating through irrigation where clogging would be very problematic, check your irrigation sprinkler/drip specs for minimum particle size (displayed in mesh or microns). Add an in-line filter that fits that mesh size.
Compatibility
All of these products have been tested for compatibility. You can always perform a jar test to double check compatibility if adding additional products.
